PT1253 Multi-Metal wad for 12ga (250/bag)
The PT1253 is one of our most popular wad designs. With very ample shot volumes and Multi-Metal capability, it is applicable to many varied shooting situations.
The PT1253 is specifically designed to handle moderate volumes of non-toxic shot. It can handle a wide range of pellet materials, including lead, steel, bismuth, ITX and SpheroTungsten. The moderate shotcup and angled wad slits on make it a superb wad for non-toxic pellets of many different materials.
Our lab is currently working up more loads with the PT1253 and ITX and SpheroTungsten pellets. You'll find great loads for these wads in our Advantages manual.
Curmudgeon's Loading Tips:
TYPE: 1-1/4 oz lead loads (with overfill of shotcup), 7/8 oz steel shot. Other Multi-Metal loads include bismuth, ITX and other tungsten-type pellets.
The PT1253 wad features a multi-folding cushion section and a very accommodating shotcup with four 45-degree angled slits set in thick (.045") high-density plastic resin.

PT1251 wad may be used for 1-1/8 lead target loads and 1-1/4 ounce lead loads utilizing denser powders. Best applications ares with lead shot (1-1/8 oz. & 1-1/4 oz.) and ITX-10 shot (7/8 oz.). Steel shot is limited in capacity to 11/16 oz of #7 steel. This is, however, a fine non-toxic clay target load and light field load.
The articulated cushion column offers adjustable load heights which permit the use of many propellants in varied densities. The PT1253 is capable of being loaded in a number of straight-wall hulls and zips through progressive reloading tools or single-stage reloading tools.
We've developed some great 7/8-ounce loads of #7 steel shot at about 1300 FPS, which destroy clay targets. This load of shot fits ideally into the PT1253 shotcup.
NOTE: The reduced internal volume of tapered target hulls (Win AA-HS and Rem STS) do not function with the PT1253 wad. You won't see data for this combination because it simply does not work. Really, we tried.
